Damajuana
More about: Where to Eat, Blanes
The seafront promenade of Blanes is lined with many eateries and fine restaurants, serving locals and tourists alike. However, as in other towns it pays to find out which restaurants are favoured by the locals.
Damajuana is such a place. Hidden away in a narrow alley just off the main drag of Passeig Pau Casals, Damajuana draws a steady stream of Blanes locals and visitors-in-the-know who have come to prize the restaurant for its wonderful, freshly prepared meat and pasta dishes. Yes, excellent Italian food at the Costa Brava in Spain (or rather, in Catalonia).
Tastefully decorated, Damajuana’s warm atmosphere is further enhanced by the friendly service of the family that owns the restaurant.
And then the food! Even something as simple as Spaghetti or Lasagne Bolognese seems to have been prepared from secret family recipes.
There’s a fantastic selection of starters; generous portions which, accompanied by a bottle of fine wine, could even serve as a main meal.
The food at Damajuana is absolutely wonderful. If we were giving stars, Damajuana would get five out of five.
A tip: leave some room for desert. We recommend the home-made Dulce de Leche ice cream.

Damajuana!!! Wonderful food! If I ever move to Blanes I’ll turn my kitchen into an extra bedroom and eat only at Damajuana’s. Fantastic place!

Hi Martin,
My husband and I have visited Blanes for many years and we second your sentiments regarding Damajuana. The food is wonderful, and while the family hails from Argentina their Italian dishes are as good as I have tasted in the finest restaurants in Italy.
We found Damajuana when we had our fill of Mama Mia, one of the snackbars on the boulevards. Their pizzas are reasonable but the service leaves much to be desired (and they ought to hire a dishwasher…).
Damajuana is one of those restaurants we truly miss when we’re not in Blanes. Like you, we may have to relocate to Blanes! Not a bad idea… life at the Costa Brava.

This summer our family enjoyed a vacation at a campground in Blanes. We had a wondeful time which got even better after a friend told us about Damajuana. What joy! The food at this restaurant is truly fantastic. Homemade pasta with wonderful sauces were our favorites. We also liked the generous starters as well as the excellent collection of quality wines. At the end there is a choice of deserts such as homemade ‘dulce de leche’ icecream. Wondeful!
Service is friendly and effective. Incredibly the whole Damajuana experience is very inexpensive. We learned about this fine restaurant near the end of our vacation but when we comes back next year we will definitely eat there several times.

This is a wonderful restaurant with fantastic food. The owners don’t speak much English, but they do try. Ask for the English language menu. Did I mention the food is fantastic? It is absolutely wonderful. This is some of the best — no, THE best - pasta I have eaten. Find this place and eat here!

We’re not sure whether we get to visit Blanes this year, but just the mere thought that we might brings back wonderful memories of Dama Juana. My mouth waters! The restaurant is tucked away in an insignificant sidestreet, but the food is absolutely wonderful.
