Restaurant Bahia

The boulevard that runs along the beach of old-town Blanes sports many outdoor cafes, snackbars and restaurants.
These eateries, which are only open June through September, vie for customers in different ways.
Some restaurants bank only on their reputation.
Others attempt to entice you with printed menus or with sandwich boards announcing the day’s specials.
Yet others charm customers into their domains with small talk, a friendly gesture, or an entertaining act.
Over the years we have eaten at most of these places - anything from a quick snack to a complete meal. Some are on our “once but never again” list. Others were OK, and a few stood out.
Among the latter is Restaurant Bahia. It is located at Passeig i Vieta, 21, but it is easier to simply look for the “Restaurant Bahia” sign across the road that separates the boulevard from the town.
If you walk along the boulevard from Place de Catalunya in the direction of the harbor, Restaurant Bahia is the first terrace after the kids’ playground.
Bahia is blessed with a faithful team of workers, two of whom have been there for 30 years. They manage to set Bahia apart from the rest by providing friendly and efficient service, along with good food cooked to order.
This is also a wonderful place to just sit and relax. The views are great. From here you can see the harbor, fishing boats returning with their daily catch, and La Palomera (the rock formation that marks the official start of the Costa Brava). The boulevard itself is a people-watchers’ dream: bikini-clad girls, rich-and-famous looking folks walking their miniature dogs, other Blanes locals, and a steady parade of tourists.
Of all the places along the boulevard that we have tried, Restaurant Bahia has become our favorite place to eat.

Here’s our greeting to Abundio and Jochem of Restaurant Bahia: Thanks for all the good times we have had at your place. The food is good, the service excellent, and the entertainment unequalled.
To everyone else: there are lots of places to eat along the boulevard, but we heartily recommend Bahia.
