We have discovered a new restaurant & cocktail bar in Blanes, and are happy to report that — having visited it a few times now — we can confidently recommend it as having great food at a good price.

Blanes — the Costa Brava beach resort town popular with locals and tourists alike — has a wide choice of restaurants and eateries.
Many of them are found along the beautiful boulevard that runs from the Platja de Blanes to the yacht harbor.
We have tried most of these restaurants for lunch and dinner, and tend to return to just a few of them.
Our new find has quickly gained a top spot on our short list of favorites.
We’re talking about Cocktail-Bar & Restaurant Tornado. It is located toward the far end of the boulevard, just past the statue of Joaquim Ruyra, and across from the yacht harbor.
Tornado is operated by Peter Vida and his family. Peter hails from Hungary, and between him, his wife and his lovely daughters, the family speaks five languages: English, Spanish, German, Hungarian and Russian.
As a restaurant Tornado offers something distinctly different from the other eateries along the boulevard: specialties from Hungary, including wonderfully flavored grilled beef patties and sausages that are, well, finger-licking good.
The specialty of the house at Cocktail Bar & Restaurant Tornado
Tornado’s meny includes cold and warm sandwiches, combination plates and salads, and no less than 40 different cocktails. Enjoy them at night by candle light.
Tornado’s terrace provides full shade, clean tables, and comfortable chairs. The service is friendly.
We heartely recommend the specialty of the house: a large, filling sandwich with a generous beef patty consisting of three different kinds of meat, specially flavored with traditional Hungarian spices and grilled to perfection. It is topped with fried egg, lettuce tomatoes and onions. You can add mayonaisse, ketchup or mustard if you wish.
Fantastic food. Great drinks. Good value. Highly recommended!

What a nice find! While there are plenty of snackbars along the boulevard, we specificaly looked for Tornardo after reading about it on this site. You did not steer us wrong — the food here is very good and is reasonably priced.
