This plan actually sounds fair to me. We vacation in Blanes every other year and always have a wonderful time there. We pay tourist tax in other places we visit. As long as it is a reasonable amount it's a small price to pay.

Thanks for a nice web site, by the way!

My boyfriend and I love Casa Oliveras! They've got fantastic stuff here, including local pastries and good coffee. Order a cortado, and don't be afraid to ask one of the busy waitresses to explain the menu to you. It's a pity the upstairs terrace isn't always open, but if you are willing not to be waited upon (you get your own stuff from the bar) they'll sometimes let you sit there anyway.

If Gloria still works there kiss her for us. What a treasure!

My friends and I have stayed at Sorrall twice and had no problems. But the rooms are not sound proof, and it is easy to be disturbed by noise from another room. Some groups of teens (but also some older people) do get too loud. We have heard stories about the night porter, but have not had any run-ins with him ourselves. Overall I think we would stay at El Sorrall again. It is away close to the center of town (Shopping! Tapas! The Boulevard!). The beach is right out front, and it is a short walk to the beach at La Palomera or Platja de Blanes.

We're not sure whether we get to visit Blanes this year, but just the mere thought that we might brings back wonderful memories of Dama Juana. My mouth waters! The restaurant is tucked away in an insignificant sidestreet, but the food is absolutely wonderful.

This is a wonderful restaurant with fantastic food. The owners don't speak much English, but they do try. Ask for the English language menu. Did I mention the food is fantastic? It is absolutely wonderful. This is some of the best -- no, THE best - pasta I have eaten. Find this place and eat here!

This summer our family enjoyed a vacation at a campground in Blanes. We had a wondeful time which got even better after a friend told us about Damajuana. What joy! The food at this restaurant is truly fantastic. Homemade pasta with wonderful sauces were our favorites. We also liked the generous starters as well as the excellent collection of quality wines. At the end there is a choice of deserts such as homemade 'dulce de leche' icecream. Wondeful!

Service is friendly and effective. Incredibly the whole Damajuana experience is very inexpensive. We learned about this fine restaurant near the end of our vacation but when we comes back next year we will definitely eat there several times.

Ah! So we were not the only ones! I won't go into details, but agree with this article.

A tip: when we needed to rent a car, we took the ferry boat to Lloret. The kids really enjoyed that, as did we.

We rented our car from AVIS. Highly recommended!

Our family stayed here last year! We found Hotel Stella Maris via the Internet. We were looking for something basic... a place that wouldn't cost and arm and a leg, and where our children (ages 7-16) would have plenty to do. Fortunately that is exactly what we got. All of us enjoyed the hotel, the neighborhood and the fantastic beach!

Can't say much about the food on offer. The few times that we did eat at the hotel the food was good, but the area and the town of Blanes itself offers so many fine restaurants (and the prices are so cheap) that we found ourselves eating out almost every day.

One thing: we travelled to Blanes via Barcelona, but next year we will book a flight to nearby Girona.

Stella Maris is a great hotel. My boyfriend and I have stayed here twice and we will be back next year. We like the location: not too far from town, right in the middle of all the action, and very close to the beach.

What is nice too is that this is a family-type hotel. It's pretty relaxed, but classy enough to discourage boisterous louts from staying here.

The pool is not all that big, but then the beach is just minutes away!

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Nice staff as well! We highly recommend Stella Maris.

Hi Jolanda,

Generally Sardana performers prefer that those who join in know the dance. In many towns local Sardana groups will hold a few instruction meetings. Look for posters and announcements at bulletin boards in Tapas bars and elsewhere.

The Sardana is an emotionally-charged dance. During Franco's reign, the Catalan people were not allowed to dance the Sardana because the dance represents the Catalonian culture as well as the people's traditional independence.
