The city of Blanes has approved an ambitious redevelopment project for the beachfront in the resort’s popular El Pins district.
Besides giving the waterfront a new look, the upgrade is also expected to solve the recurring problems of low levels of sand — as well as other storm damage — at S’Abanell beach. Continue reading
The Planning Commission in Girona, Catalonia, has given the green light to proposals by the local urban planning committees (plans d’ordenació urbanística municipal, POUM) of the Costa Brava towns of Roses and Blanes.

In a major show of committment to the health of its tourist industry, the city of Blanes is investing millions of Euros in its plans to turn its tourist district into a pedestrians-only paradise.
Parallel to the project, which will be performed in phases over the next few years, Spain’s Ministry of the Environment is upgrading the seaside Paseo de S’Abanell boulevard. Continue reading
