Bistrot de Tot

Bistrot de Tot

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: If you want to eat good food in Blanes, go where the locals go. More often than not, that means venturing away from the beach boulevards, and into town.

PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Note that this restaurant in now permanently closed.

We keep this archived article online for those who search for information about this place.

You won’t even have to go very far. Bistrot de Tot, for example, is just minutes from the beach.

The restaurant is hidden away in a narrow alley in the old village, but once you’ve dined here you’ll be able to find it again blindfolded. Yes, we’re sure nobody eats here just once.

Bistrot de Tot serves up traditional Catalan cuisine, often with an avant-garde twist, and clearly prepared and presented with much love.

Whether you order the Bistroburger, the brandada de bacalao, prawns with chocolate(!), risotto, baked mussels, or any dish — the presentation is gorgeous, and the taste is simply divine.

Where to find Bistrot de Tot

Walk up Carrer Ample from the boulevard Platja de Blanes beach. The shopping street is easy to find. Look for the traffic lights along the boulevard, halfway between the Sa Palomera Rock and the end of the beach at the yacht club harbor.

On Carrer Ample turn right at Placa de Espana — the square on the right hand side of the street. Then left into the second alley: Carrer del Forn.

You’ll find the restaurant at number 16 on the corner, just across the sidedstreet Carrer de la Unió.

Alternatively, you can continue up the shopping street past the square and turn right on Carrer Gilbert.

You’ll see a handful of tables ahead of you. There simply isn’t room for any more.

Step inside, though, and you’ll find a surprisingly large — yet cozy — restaurant.

What to expect

This is clearly a locals place, but both tourists and regulars are greeted warmly.

The staff and owners are sympathetic, and the service is friendly and efficient.

The food will have you come back again and again. Every dish we’ve eaten here has been absolutely fantastic.

One of our favorite meals at Bistrot d’Tot is de cim i tomba de bestina — rayfish and vegetable stew.

The portions are generous, so we make sure we bring an appetite to match, keeping in mind that we certainly don’t want to skip their wonderful deserts.

Suffice it to say we highly recommend you give this restaurant a try.
